This is an interesting snippit from their terms: Now everyone is realizing that it is not just a simple business listing. However, the trade off for those providing the content may not be so good. It makes sense that they should do that, since their purpose is to serve as a library of design and decoration ideas for homeowners. I just wanted to have a basic business listing there, in case any potential customers search for a photographer in my area. I have only uploaded a handful of images so far, and will leave it at that.

On the bright side I have only had an account with them for a short period of time and managed to get a client who has already given three jobs as a result so I won't be deleting my account any time soon. I won't be posting any more pictures to Houzz or at the very least not entire sets of photos. I decided to read through their terms and conditions and it's a strange mix. Yikes! I didn't realize that they did that. Gotta read them very carefully these days. That's nuts, TOS everywhere else keep getting more abusive every year. I deleted my account months ago, for other issues. Thank you for sharing this experience as I think it will help me in my efforts to convince future clients when they ask. I currently don't use them and have tried to talk clients out of using them as well. (admittedly I haven't read all of their terms and conditions closely). I was also of the opinion that their terms were overreaching but I had no idea that once images had been submitted HOUZZ could refuse to delete them. So I just sent a request to have my account deleted and suggest everyone that has images on their site to check out their terms. We have been able to assist you in removing the photos from your profile, but they will remain in any ideabook, including editorial features, they have been included in to date. Pursuant to our Terms of Use, we do not remove photos from Houzz once uploaded to the site. I recently had a past client request to has images of their home deleted and after several e mails back and forth I got this reply
